What’s in an Activity Report?

Our Activity Reports will clearly show the Feature article title, sponsor name, article date of creation, article date to be archived, number of page views and number of downloads. Our Activity Reports will  also provide for each download; Publication Name, City, Circulation, Publication URL (if provided), Date of download and Type of Publication daily, weekly, online . . .

Every client regardless of service level, has the opportunity to request a “Activity Report.” Activity Reports are created on a per Feature basis at no cost. If we publish four Features you can have each Feature reported on. We do require at least 24hrs notice to prepare unless specifically requested.

Clipping Services

Unfortunately, we do not offer clipping services as it is a costly service that would impact our cost which would have to be passed onto our sponsorship packages. This is why we have developed our Activity Reports that are not only free to Sponsor’s but provide more information than most clipping services. We routinely follow downloads from publications and if we come across any content being used from the Home Improvement Time site we will try to provide a link or other means to convey to the respective client.

 

What do we do with the data we gather? 2017-03-31T19:49:46+00:00

The data we gather is used for the sole purpose of providing statistical information to the Sponsors of this program and the content used. Information such as Publication Name, General Location, Circulation and Type of paper or publication (Daily, Weekly, Online or both) is very important to our Sponsors when their content is Downloaded. This information is shared on a per Feature Basis to the Sponsor or (Representing Agency) only. This information may be used for the Sponsor to interact with the Publication for Marketing Purposes. The information is not shared in any other way or stored for anyone other than Home Improvement Time. Home Improvement Time may use Publication Profile information – Pub. Name, Editor Name and Email address to contact via. email programs throughout the year regarding new content added to the site, our seasonal Home Improvement Editorial WebGuides in Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter or to alert users of any website maintenance days. Any User wishing not to be contacted by email for these purposes can “opt-out” from receiving future emails unless specifically requesting to be back on our mailing list. About a Sponsor Contract with Home Improvement Time 2017-03-31T19:49:46+00:00

All Contracts made by Home Improvement Time, Inc. and a perspective Sponsor are created differently. Sponsorship may be derived through a special offer presented by Home Improvement Time or possibly an introductory offer to try our Program. We know all budgets are not created equal. Our goal is to work with you to get you into the program, help you present a Feature with the best potential and create some new Buzz about your product or business.

Our economical price structure offers potential for most clients who plan to have any Media budget at all. In some cases, even one pickup from a large circulation paper can pay for the program about ten times over or more. By no means do we try to cater to only large publications but rather all publications including the Daily’s and Weekly’s that make up our home towns and the interest based online and in print publications.

We’ll start with pricing for either a “single” Feature or “multiple” Feature structure for the year. With the single Feature option, you will pay for the Feature to be presented for no less the twelve months or have the original Feature changed out with a new Feature at some point throughout the year. This may help with clients who have seasonal products or just to take advantage of getting your message out in a new fashion with a second feature.

Multiple Feature Articles are priced at a cheaper per Feature price and maintains the benefits included with the single Feature. Thus, two Features will provide the client with the option to produce and use up to four different Features throughout the year.

We offer writing and editing services if needed. We also have a variety of  stock photo services available. Cost vary between services but we can provide the means for you to look through and select or have us select the image you require with proper usage licensing for redistribution.

With all levels of Sponsor participation we offer free posting of all news releases and PSA’s.

Corrections can be made after a Feature has been published. All corrections go through a proofing process for client approval before the Feature is taken back out of Draft mode.

Once a service level and price has been established and a Space Reservation form has been signed by authorized personnel, we will Publish the Feature(s) immediately and the twelve month cycle of the contract begins. When we see that there is a good potential that a contract will happen we will start to gather as many assets of the Feature as possible to get things moving. This will help get the content available to publishers to start letting your investment work for you.

Do we cater differently from one sponsor to the other? Absolutely, for company’s with the budget for multiple products or just have a feverish desire to Get Their Brand Out There. We encourage our clients to not rely on the virtue of success with only one Feature. Successful reach starts with offering an editor a choice. Maybe content for one suits his/her needs one day and they find a best option to choose from. The choice of two is a better than to use or not to use. Secondly, editors for all types of reasons are looking for something fresh. They look through our site routinely for new Features. Surprisingly our News Releases get their own share of free pickup. We encourage our clients to take advantage of this and make us aware of new PR content so we may get it published immediately.

If you purchase the four Feature package, we will post any News Release as a Feature and to be read like a Feature at no additional cost.

Sponsorship in the Home Improvement Time Editorial Program begins with an honest discussion about what the client expects to get from the program and what our program is designed to do for the client.

We boast no savvy claims or guarantees, we promise nothing but an honest effort to assist any client in publishing their content in the best possible means. This includes editorial suggestions, quality of images and the focus of the subject matter.

Editors are looking for only a few things when picking up free content to publish whether online or in print. They are not looking to publish free advertising when they have advertising departments racing daily to pay for their existence. They are not looking at big – recognizable brand names and they have no desire to knowingly promote anyone’s business for nothing.

Editors are looking to fill a void in a page. They use the content in seasonal Supplements to help garner attention to their publication by providing useful, seasonal, qualified and intriguing content that will grab the readers attention. Content that will bring in the reader to want to turn the next page and see more of their paid advertisements.

Your content can be a useful tool for publications by providing topics that are educational, interesting, factful, timely, useful and most importantly not a boring read such as just another door selection. Show them new options, maybe your product is faster or it cost half as much as the competitor. What is great about your product. The readers need an attention grabber.

We will help you round your content to meet this challenge as this is what will open the door to editorial interest.

Let’s again start with your content;

  • Content length is not always what makes a worth while Feature. It is about what it will take to get your message across. If that can be done in one paragraph than fantastic. It’s easy to use, it doesn’t make space re-arranging a nightmare and will more likely be used for this purpose. However, if it takes ten paragraphs to properly get your message across than that’s what it takes. Again, the useability in the editors eyes may be dimmed by length but it does not mean it won’t get picked up.
  • Subject matter is very important and often articles tend to try and cover to many things and never focusing on one really well. Remember that if is not useful, easy to read and interesting you’re probably not going to get much coverage.
  • Images; our policy is that if you’re going to use an image of your product you should go to all measures to obtain the best quality possible. Image focus, resolution 300dpi and proper backdrop. This image is your “brand” so you should make it count. If you cannot obtain a quality image than your better off to not show anything.
  • Boiler plate; a boiler plate is not necessarily needed but is does help educate the editor to source information and may or may not be picked up with the article. If it does, now you just had a free advertisement of your company background. A boiler plate should not be extensive but a summary of a business. Too long and it will certainly not get used …

Question: Can you please forward me rates and information on your services, including guarantees and an example report of where a recent home improvement article has placed?

Answer: Of course. We will send you our Space Reservation Form for pricing and an example of our “Activity Report.” Unfortunately we do not place any guarantees for placement services. We do have any special relationships with publications and downloads solely are a result of great content, great interest and usability. Most articles speak for themselves to result in high download counts.

Question: Is it possible for me to receive a 2013 editorial calendar?

Answer: Our editorial content deadline calendar is March 15th for Spring/Summer and August 15th for Fall/Winter cycles.

Question: What type of assets ‘images/file types’ do you require from us?

Answer: Good Question, our standard for images are for 300 dpi “8 x 4”. Obviously that is not possible all the time, but it is quite important to work to get the best image quality possible. It helps the final user’s work with the image to suit their needs. For the content. We can accept pretty much any program file or extension. Our final text output is a “Word” rtf. file, single spaced with appropriate links intact. Link’s with PR tracking are not accepted or are removed unless previously discussed with. These link’s degrade or are removed over time and create a hassle for the user and SEO.

Question: I sent this image to ”  … ” earlier today.  Let me know if this size works.?

Answer: Again, to the question here and previously … The goal for the best possible use of an image is 300 dpi @ 8″ x 4″. As is the case often, it is not possible to get an original. We would prefer if possible to have the original regardless of the size and we will size it properly for best use. We ask that you give us the best you got and we’ll work with or we’ll tell it’s just not suitable. Your better to have no image than to have a bad one.

Question: Is there a maximum image size?

Answer: No, we will take what you provide us and scale if necessary to suit requirements. Our goal for the user is to not create a single zip folder over 4 megabytes. Any more creates lengthy download times.

Question: Can you send a link to the article when posted?

Answer: It is protocol for us to always provide a direct link or links to any posted content; 1. For the client to know when their content has gone “Live” 2. As a final effort to assure clients that the content is being displayed as requested, including links and images.

Question: May I please ask that you send me a proof prior to publication?

Answer: Yes, we will always send a proof prior to publication and as well with any secondary changes once this story has already been published.

Question: We’re not sure if your program is right for our audience? Who is your target?

Answer: Target audience answer —

Question: Do you provide any reporting? Geographic ~ Download statistics?

Answer: Yes, we do provide upon request “Activity Reports.” The reports provide for each download the Publication Name, Location, Circulation and type or Publication (Daily, weekly, online …) as well the date and time.

Question: Please refresh my memory, what is your circulation?

Answer: We currently ~February 2014 have over 1600 active registered editors. We also email prospective editors to a qualified list of over 6,100 publications (daily’s, weekly’s, magazines, online …) twice a year for the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter releases of our quality pdf of the Editorial Website Guide. This guide is a compilation of our current sponsors content and is presented with summary links and thumbnails to hope persuade a look towards the site for possible content they could use.

Question: Regarding sponsorship of a feature article, we don’t have ANY MONEY for those types of programs.  We are happy to send you articles from time to time that might be useful but we are not able to buy a sponsorship. Would you still like us to send you new content?

Answer: Absolutely, we are aware of the previous, current and possible future poor economic conditions. We would certainly want to work with you and to help your business. Hopefully this will help get you in a position to get paid sponsorship and the benefits it has. If needed we can also be creative to suit your budget and payment.

Question:  Can you please let me know when the deadline is for the fall/winter issue? Word count, etc.

Answer: Our Spring/Summer seasonal editorial content deadline is March 15th. Fall/Winter editorial content deadline is August 15th. For both of these dates shown this the latest we can receive content and have it prepared for the respective publication. We can certainly place new content on the website at any time of the year including new sponsorships.

Question:  Could you find the last one we did online?

Answer: Yes, we maintain an extensive database of all previously used content since 2004.
