(HIT) – MAUMEE, OHIO – To add the “wow factor” in their new McKenzie Park model home, the team at M/I Homes of Houston, LLC created a ceiling truss system from lightweight Fypon beams. The impressive stained woodgrain beams soar to the top of the three-story vaulted Great Room in the Spring, Texas community home.

“This was the first time we used Fypon pieces for an application like this and we’re very impressed,” says Kevin Stewart, vice president of purchasing for M/I Homes of Houston, LLC. “The lightweight nature of the timber synthetic beams made it possible to create and easily install this wonderful accent for the model home. Based on the success of this installation we’ve made the trusses part of the base plan for this home design.”

Made of durable polyurethane, the Mesa-style timber beams used in the McKenzie Park model home have a long span of almost 20 feet, making them ideal for use in this custom truss system.

“Our design team specializes in supporting architects and builders with their projects and special needs,” says J.J. Rogers, sales operations manager with Fypon. “We offer a free take-off service where we take elevations supplied to us and make recommendations for adding synthetic millwork to the exterior and interior of the projects.

“For M/I Homes of Houston, we supported their project needs by assisting with the design and layout of the truss system using our U-shaped timber beams. The lightweight nature of these polyurethane beams made it possible for their team to successfully achieve the dramatic truss system they envisioned.”

The model home created by M/I Homes of Houston is part of the company’s Showcase Collection located in an exclusive gated section of McKenzie Park. The four bedroom home has 5,449 square feet and features an owner’s suite, large screen media theater, wine cellar and chef’s gourmet kitchen.
